My inspiration to jump out and start writing this blog is Girl, Wash Your Face: Stop Believing the Lies About Who You Are So You Can Become Who You Were Meant to Be – Author: Rachel Hollis

This book has popped up in my audible recommendations since it came out. So for about a year, I have been eyeing this book. I had a well-meaning person say something along the lines that this book is full of white woman privilege and since I am not really into self-help books I was turned off. I am not sure what actually made me decide to purchase it, but let me just say I wish I’d bought it the day it came out.

Each chapter of this book is the title “The Lie”. We as human-beings believe lies about ourselves over and over again and until we start believing the truth the lie will become our reality. This book is written from the perspective of a busy mom who is navigating through life and it full of motivation keep your head above water and eventually swim. Going through a terrible season of unhappiness, I realized through this book that changing my reality starts with me and what I believe about myself.

Rachel is a Christian and this book is biblically based and sound. However, it is not as if she is beating you over the head with scripture or coming from a place that makes you think everything in her life is perfect. This book is real, raw, funny, uplifting, and true. After you read this book you’ll be ready to take action and take control over your life. I suggest reading Girl, Stop Apologizing next. I bought the audiobook on Audible and the eBook on Kindle but I did not have time to read the Kindle version at all. The audiobook is read by the author.
